A week in Berlin
Our week in Berlin was full of activities, to say the least. Jeans were tailored, beers were drunk and hair was cut (after the beer-drinking, of course). As mentioned before, we followed the Pace guys to the fashion fair Bread and Butter in Berlin. Our mission: Sew jeans in our booth. Joakim at Pace got one pair, another pair went to Kai at Burg & Schild and we took yet another one back with us to the Pace office.
Here's a load of pictures which we feel summarizes the week in a nice way.

Bread & Butter

This week we'll hit the road and take ourselves on an adventure towards Berlin and the forthcoming Bread & Butter faire. For those of you who're not familiar with Bread & Butter, it's one of the fashion industry's biggest faires where jeans garments are especially prioritized.
Blue Highway will be there in cooperation with Pace in order to realize a fun and exciting project. We've brought two of our sewing machines with us and we'll actually make Pace jeans on the spot! We're very excited to see what will turn out of this and exactly how much German beer we'll drink, but most of all we're looking forward to meet a lot of awesome people interested in denim. If you're going there, come say hello! If not, we'll be sure to give you all the relevant information when we're back in Sweden again.
Read more about Bread & Butter here.

An adventure underground
To situate yourself 600 meters inside a mountain surely brings a special feeling. As you're following the paths worming further and further in to the old mines, the air differs constantly and the temperature is sinking for every step taken. You don't even see further than a couple of meters in front of you and the light from the sun by the entrance of the cave disappeared a long time ago. One part of yourself would rather wait outside and thereby evade the claustrophobic feeling of being far, far inside a mountain. At the same time, another part is enjoying the adventure and the history of the rocks. Simple enough, you just want to see what's inside the depth of the mine.

The mere thought of these mines being active during the late 19th century gives me shivers. Here, people were mining silver during extreme circumstances and it sure makes me appreciate my job as a shop assistant more.

This is naturally one of the best and most exciting things we've ever done. A big part of the modern American west coast history started here with hard work and a lot of luck-seeking people from different places in the world. Not to forget, among these there were entrepreneurs such as Levis and a couple of others who realized the value of heavy-duty workwear.

How it's made
Recently, we've been busy making jackets. We're going through the same design process as when we tailored jackets out of duck earlier, but now we're working in denim. Here's some pictures from the manufacturing.

This is how we're working with the front, step by step.

The Blue Highway blog
What started out as blog about vintage denim that we found on Ebay, has the last year merged into a blog about our own brand, our custom denim.
Either we write about our collection or our passion for sewing our own jeans, we hope that The Blue Highway blog will inspire you to become a denim nerd like us.
In the gallery section you can find out more about our collection.
