Cotton duck jackets

Here's one of our latest projects and garments. After our travels to Los Angeles and all the fine 19th century-denim we've seen, the time felt right to make a Blue Highway type one-jacket. We used the cotton duck quality that we bought during our first trip to L.A. and were inspired from the pieces of an old jacket from the 19th century.

Here's the result.

We chose to make the fit a bit more modern instead of it being made all according to the epoch in question. Also, we placed small leather pieces behind the pins and buttons to prevent the duck fabric from being damaged. Because the jacket isn't woven in the same way as denim it becomes less tolerant by the relatively sharp edges of the pins, which is a detail that can be seen at specific duck garments from the 19th century. Instead of a chinch back, we made two leather braces that can be used to justify the width of the jacket. It's not a detail we've seen on a garment earlier, but we thought it fit well on our model.

Competition - win guest passes to

Our dear sister has the honor of giving away five guest passes to the vintage exhibition "Bakåt Framåt" that will be held at Hornstull Strand between the 27th and 28th of March.

The theme of the competition is "personal style", which is a very fond subject for our dear sister. The only thing you need to do is to write her an e-mail and tell her about someone that you think has a wonderful personal style. It can be anyone, and if you've got a picture of the fellow in question - then that's positive.

Her e-mail adress is alovestory@tuvaminnalinn.se.

The winners will be announced March 19th at our sister's blog.

New stuff

Right now we're in the process of installing a lot of new machines. I just thought I'd publish some close-up pictures of the overlock machine and the new jeans we're making at the moment. More information about that when the machines are up and running.

The Blue Highway blog

What started out as blog about vintage denim that we found on Ebay, has the last year merged into a blog about our own brand, our custom denim.

Either we write about our collection or our passion for sewing our own jeans, we hope that The Blue Highway blog will inspire you to become a denim nerd like us.

In the gallery section you can find out more about our collection.
