Gustav's flea market find

We got ourselves an intern! His name is Gustav and he'll assist us here at Unionville for the forthcoming time and hopefully learn something about the store and how we're making our Blue Highway jeans. All and all he's a good guy who share our passion and interest for denim. He's a previous student of weaving and has woven quite a few cloths by hand. We'll see if we can make use of his techniques in time.

Today Gustav brought a proper good flea market find to the store. The find in question is this Levi's Shorthorn jacket, made in a neat cowhide quality. Our guess is that the jacket was made in the 60's and you can clearly see that it's been enduring some rough times since. In a plain positive way, of course.

As you may notice, the jacket has a couple of nice details such as a woven Shorthorn tag in the neck, printed rivets and a Big E tab. You can really see how the leather has aged in different ways and gotten different tones as time has passed. Simply fantastic.

This picture above shows how a jacket sleeve can look after 50 years of use. The leather has that soft feeling it only can get after several years of wearing and lots of love.

And of course, the jacket fits Gustav perfectly. It's got itself a whole new adventure up ahead, with plenty of wearing time coming for its new owner.
